Welcome to Spektrum
Our strength lies in our diversity, and where differences take root, a community grows. You are welcome just as you are.
Who hasn't been there?
Between lectures, assignments and part-time jobs, chaos piles up, sometimes with an extra dose of stress, anxiety or the feeling of simply being ‘different’. Sometimes our heads are too full, sometimes too empty, and sometimes we just don’t quite fit into the moulds that others impose on us.
Spektrum is the alias intersection of the ZHAW, which takes time to understand and support neurodiversity, mental health and everything that challenges us in everyday university life.
Our mission statement
We are not therapists, but together we can still make a difference:
- Open to ideas: We take nothing for granted. Your concerns may even be ‘crazy’ at times. We listen without prejudice and then consider what is possible.
- Courage to address issues: We are not afraid of difficult topics. With a little creativity and genuine willingness, more can be achieved than many people think. Communication is important to us.
- Health first: We do not demand anything that makes you uncomfortable. Your perceptions and needs are our focus.
activities
We meet regularly, exchange ideas and organise events. You are warmly invited to drop by.
We already have a number of things planned:
- Regular meetings and exchanges
- Resolving specific student concerns
- Exchanges with the Diversity Office and the school management
- Cooperation and networking with external organisations
- Participation in Alias events (e.g. with relaxation rooms)
- Sharing experiences related to autism
- [Insert your idea here!]
Our team
We are three students at ZHAW with different backgrounds and life experiences. We share the belief that there needs to be more space for awareness, exchange and support in the area of neurodiversity and mental health. This concern led us to create Intersektion Spektrum – a place for encounter, visibility and solidarity.
“Hey, I see myself as a sporty couch potato with well-fitting glasses. 🤓” (My-Hanh)
“Heyo, fancy some TTRPGs and awkward moments? Here I am :)” (Melanie)
“I’m going to convince you to go bouldering, so brace yourself.
(By the way, my glasses don’t fit very well)” (Annie)
