Welcome to Alias Section T
Together for the students of the School of Engineering
The Alias Section T is the official representative body of students at the School of Engineering. As an interface between the students and the university, we are actively committed to representing the concerns of our fellow students and promoting communication. Our aim is to continuously improve the course of study and also to strengthen the student community by organizing events.

Interest representation
The ALIAS Section T actively promotes the interests of students, both through direct participation in committees and through regular student surveys. These help to highlight current concerns and challenges. The results are discussed each semester with the ZHAW’s education management.
In addition, ALIAS Section T course representatives take part in the semesterly class representative meetings. There, they represent the concerns of their fellow students, follow up on issues, and provide support for projects within the courses.
selection committee
Selection committees assist in the selection of new professors, particularly for leadership positions. They are formed as needed and consist of managers, lecturers, employees, and, newly, students. The aim is to ensure a well-founded, multi-stage selection process.
COM modules revision
The Presidium is in the working group, together with selected ZHAW SoE stakeholders, to make the COM modules more appealing to all students.
Lunch breaks Revision
Alias is campaigning for a standard lunch break. Instead of the current variations of 25 minutes or 2.5 hours, a clear regulation is to be introduced. This is currently being developed in collaboration with the ZHAW. Implementation is planned for the fall semester of 2026 (HS26).
our projects
The ALIAS Section T actively incorporates students’ ideas into the further development of everyday student life.
chill-out room
We are campaigning for a chill-out room in the TN building, a quiet retreat for anyone who wants to take a breather, meditate, or escape the stresses of everyday life. The room should be accessible, quiet, and used respectfully: no talking, no groups, no cell phones, but mindfulness and relaxation instead.
Access is granted with a student ID card. ALIAS manages the room, collects feedback, and works with the SoE to maintain order and care for the space. Financing is still being clarified.
